Politie bekogeld met gasflessen in Molenbeek, negen agenten gewond
Bij rellen met jongeren in de Brusselse gemeente Sint-Jans-Molenbeek zijn gisterenavond negen agenten gewond geraakt. Het gaat om agenten van de zone Brussel West en van de zone Brussel Hoofdstad/Elsene. De politie is slaags geraakt met de Molenbeekse jongeren na de arrestatie van een veertienjarige.
Police pelted with gas cylinders in Molenbeek, nine officers injured. Nine police officers were injured in Muslim riots yesterday in Molenbeek. The police and Muslim clashed after the police arrested a fourteen-year old Muslim.
When the police went to arrest the 14-year old Muslim, things got ugly. Several family members began protesting loudly and soon a group of twenty Muslims surrounded the officers. They began throwing stones at the police while the police arrested the 14-year old Muslim and transported him back to the police station.
Soon after a mob of sixty Muslims appeared, and the enrichment of the Belgium society began pelting the police station with rocks. That led to more arrest and the riots escalated. The police brought in water cannons and choppers.
The police was pelted with brick and gas cylinders that hit one police officer in the back. A total of five Muslims have been arrested.
The 14-year-old Muslim boy, whose arrest was the reason for the unrest, appears before the juvenile court. In total, nine officers got injured and police cars were damaged ranging from dents to broken windows.
